My friend and neighbor Anisha took these adorable pictures of Josh yesterday. I just love them.

Kaleb turns three

Kaleb is such a fun and happy kid. He loves Thomas the train so I made him this train cake. We ate dinner at Garcia's and had cake and presents at home. He really enjoyed the day and was so happy when we gave him a Thomas the train balloon and decorated for his special day. When he woke up from his nap he saw it and said, "You did this for me?" in such a way that it almost made me cry to see how appreciative he was. I'm glad he had his special day. I didn't realize it at the time but as we were leaving the restaurant I had my first labor contraction. Kaleb just missed having to share a birthday with his new baby brother by an hour and 20 minutes.
He wanted to go to Garcias for dinner so that they would sing to him and give him ice cream. When they sang to him he got so excited I didn't know if he was going to laugh or cry.He loved the ice cream and shared with everyone.
At home he opened his gifts. Many of them had to do with Thomas. He was so gracious and excited.
At bed time he snuggled in the new blanket mom made and the pillow case Emily made. He also got a new stuffed dog because his favorite dog named Truck had been missing for months. (Ivan found it about a week after his birthday hiding under a dresser)

Halloween

This Halloween we were so fortunate to find two of or costumes at the DI. David actually found them. He saved me from sewing a Jedi costume by finding this Anakin costume.
Jonathan is Buzz Lightyear.
Kaleb went as Pooh Bear. He only wore the hood for a few minutes, Ivan and David took turns wearing it during trick or treating.
Emily was an adorible Hello Kitty. She made most of the skirt herself.
David is Anakin. He and our Star Wars loving neighbor are great at dueling.

More pictures of Josh

Wow, I can't believe Josh is now a month old. This has been a very busy month. Here are some pictures of Grandma and the kids with the baby.

FHE at the park

Monday we took our FHE to the park. After a lesson and some carmel corn we took a little walk. It wasn't too hot and it was nice to be out in nature.

Boyant Buddies

Kaleb and Jonathan have had Hand, Foot, and Mouth disease. Jonathan had it bad in his mouth and throat and could hardly eat. Thankfully Kaleb wasn't that bad. The bad thing about Hand foot and mouth is that they could actually be contagious for 2 weeks after the rash is gone. So by Friday everyone had been feeling great for a day or two but they still couldn't go outside to play with friends and I couldn't take them anywhere fun. We needed a fun project to keep us busy. These floaty friends did the trick. Jonathan was able to do all the cutting himself. The best part is after they made the craft then they spent a while playing with them in the bathtub. You can tell from the photo that Kaleb is having a hard time staying out of the water.

$2 t-shirt refashioned nightgown

I have been wanting a new nightgown without spending a lot of money. I found $1 t-shirts at our Albertsons. I bought a large and an 2XL. (I actually bought 10 to use for different projects). I used the large for the bodice of the gown and the 2XL for the skirt. I'm very pleased with how it turned out, I do wish it wasn't white, but for $2 I can't complain.

Sewing lessons

Emily has started to learn to sew. This small quilt is her first project. I was going to have her sew it by hand so she would get really good at hand stiching, but we decided to use the quilt to practice machine sewing. She sewed it practically by herself (I helped a little with stearing). Since then she has been practicing sewing straight lines, circles and squares all by herself. She has a nack for it and is excited for her next project, baby doll diapers.

Prettier Checkbook Cover

Last week I got new checks but no new checkbook cover. My old plastic one was cracked and yellow. Then I saw this tutorial for a "Prettier checkbook cover" I pulled out some scraps and about an hour later look at the cute cover I had. I added ribbon and a flower and now I just love it.

Jonathan's Birthday

On Jonathan's birthday we invited some friends over for a pool party. He loved the cupcakes and the gifts. Grandma even came in time for opening gifts in the evening. I think the thing he loved the most though was the new bike he got.

Some crafts

I've been sewing a lot lately. I've made four maternity skirts for myself and these two skirts for Emily.
The boys couldn't be left out of the cake decorating the next day David and Jonathan both made and decorated cakes.
Kaleb had to decorate a piece of bread when he woke from his nap. The frosting was hard to squeeze at first so he had to really concentrate.

I made these homemade oreos by using my favorite sugar-free chocolate cake recipe and piping the batter into circles, then I filled them with a whipped cream frosting. They were yummy.
