Play doe fun

You can see from our pictures below that we had alot of fun creating things with fondant. I am especially pleased with my burger, fries, and shake. The plate is only a bit larger than a quarter.

Project 365

I have really been enjoying digital scrap booking lately. I love that there is no mess to get out and then put away. Not to mention not having to say to the kids. Don't touch, leave that alone, and leave the room. (Not always in that order.) I have started a project where I take one picture each day and then place them in a layout. At the end of the year I should have a family year book. I am really liking the project. It reminds me to take more photos and also serves as a family journal. Here are the pages I created for last week. Sometimes it is just too hard to pick only one picture.

I scraplifted the design for the page from M originals. Amber helped me distress some card stock to make the overlays for the photos. There are so many great kits available for free on the internet that it makes it lots of fun to play around with Photoshop. If you want a closer look at the pictures just click on them.

Our Week

Ivan is still having a lot of fun sculpting. He recently worked on a miniature of Kaleb. You can see his sculpture and the photo he was working off of.We had a busy week. Monday we found out that I had strep throat. Monday night I picked up antibiotics for all six of us.Tuesday Jonathan's preschool went to the children's museum. We were technically still contagious but the kids didn't feel sick and we had already paid our money. Fortunately the rest of the week has been kind of slow which is giving me a chance to recoup after strep and get some accounting work done.

Look at this cute hair

I came across the best website, shedoeshair, for getting me motivated to put more energy into fixing Emily's hair. Just look at the cute hair styles I learned to do on her site. I actually went out and bought a curling iron, hair gel and other goo so I could do a better job. Emily is excited that she has cute hair too. She has been a headband girl out of necessity until now.

Diaper change???

Kaleb is definitely two. He want to do everything himself and rarely wants his diaper changed. To help him feel more in control last night we gave him choices of where he wanted his diaper changed. "Would you like your diaper changed on the floor or on the bed...or...um...in the bathtub." You see what he chose. You see though he had something different in mind.

Snow Day

Friday night we had a snow storm that dropped several inches of fluffy white snow. The weather on Saturday was so beautiful, clear blue ski, quite warm and sunny. We took the kids to a near by hill and had a great time sledding. Even Kaleb enjoyed himself (he doesn't like any of the white stuff to touch his skin). After sledding we headed over to our favorite restaurant, Garcia's, for lunch.

Ivan has a new talent. He is excited about sculpting with clay. These are his first doodles. Right now he is working on a sculpture of Kaleb that I will post soon. He is such a talented man!

New Years

For New Years Eve we had a party with the kids. I prepared a bunch of different fruits and Emily helped me to make a few fruit dips. We wanted to have fun but not eat a lot of junk food. Everyone loved the fruit and dip. The favorite dip was blueberry lemon. I whipped some cream cheese with stevia, lemon juice and grated lemon rind. Then I stirred in some simply fruit blueberry jam. Lastly I whipped some cream and folded it into the blueberry mixture. It tasted so good some of us ate it without dipping fruit in it.
After the fruit feast we played games and danced to Bulgarian folk music. We really had a good time.

A few years ago we started a family tradition of having Diado Muras (Grandpa Frost) come to our house. When Ivan was growing up in Bulgaria they didn't celebrate Christmas. The communists transferred most of the festivites surrounding Christmas to New Years. Comming to the States New Years is a real let down to Ivan so we started getting together with other Bulgarian familys on New Year's day and also began having the Bulgarian Santa come to our house. He brings just one gift to each child and a game for the family. The kids get so excited when the gifts "appear" under the tree sometime durring the day. They are never sure if he will actually come or not so it is a great treat.

I'm not doing anything!

Last Sunday Ivan walked into the kitchen to find Kaleb sitting at the counter with an open jar of peanut butter. Kaleb looked at Ivan and said, "I'm not doing anything." He had peanut butter on his hands, face and clothes. Later that night I found a bunch of peanut butter spots on the carpet in the living room. I'm sure glad he wasn't doing anything. If he was we would really be in trouble.
